Tips for Hiring a Tree Care Company

by admin Email

TCIA-accredited companies are inspected and qualified for:

- Adherence to the TCIA Code of Ethics and best business practices
- Employing formally trained, skilled personnel
- Meeting industry standards for quality performance and safety
- Providing industry-standard written estimates
- Customer satisfaction, including following a dispute resolution process.
- Carrying sufficient insurance coverage
- Employing certified arborists

Consumer Beware!

Care for your trees needs to be done by skilled, trained and insured professionals, both for the health and beauty of your trees and for your safety. Both workers and homeowners are killed doing tree work every year. For your safety, do not perform tree work. For your financial protection, hire a company that is professional. If the company doesn’t have insurance or is not a legal company – you, the homeowner – could be held responsible as a contractor.

Spring Landscaping

Spring is here! It's now time to prune your Crape Myrtles.

Why fertilize your trees on a regular basis?

by admin Email

Whether you are maintaining a single tree at your home or a thousand trees in a commercial setting, trees add value to your property. Their health is limited by the availability of resources such as light, space, moisture, and nutrients. Since decaying vegetation is seldom left in place, urban soils lack the natural nutrient cycling found in forest soils. This lack of nutrition severely limits your trees' ability to adapt to other stressors such as pests, disease, and drought.

Embark's Tree Fertilization service includes a slow-release deep root injection of macro and micro nutrients as well as humates that will keep your trees vibrant for years to come.

Winter Tree Care Tips for Homeowners

by admin Email

Winter brings frigid temperatures, icy winds, and even occasional snow. Just as people battle Mother Nature at this time of the year, so do trees, with one major exception... trees are not able to avoid exposure to the elements.

If you take care of your trees in the winter, you'll be rewarded in the spring. The following tips are recommended:

- Put mulch under your tree in the fall or early winter to help retain water and reduce temperature extremes. A thin layer of mulch will act like a blanket and give the tree's roots a little extra winter protection.
- Give your trees a drink. Winter droughts require watering as much as summer droughts. If temperatures permit, an occasional watering during the winter on young trees may be a life saver.
- Prune your trees now! Winter is actually one of the best times to prune, because it is easier to see the structure of trees without their leaves. However, limit pruning to deadwood and poorly placed branches in order to save as many living branches as possible.
